Train your team to tell you what they need

A principal who attended one of her trainings had a sign in his office. It let people indicate what kind of meeting they wanted before they walked in.

She made the same sign. It worked.

People came in wanting something specific, and she could give it to them. Sometimes they wanted her to tell them what to do. Sometimes brainstorm. Sometimes affirmation. Sometimes just listen. Sometimes a very specific question, and sometimes they didn't know what they needed at all.

Either way, she knew exactly what she had to do. She didn't have to guess.

You can have that sign in your office too. Train your team to tell you what they need and you'll always get it right.
